He was born in Toyama in 1966. He graduated the Department of Literature at Keio university. He went through an X-rated video director before he became a photographer in 1994. He covered lawless areas and disputing areas all over the world, for example Thailand, Colombia, Russia, Palestine, to take photos of human's dead bodies. His first one-man show was held in 1995. He took photos of over 1000 dead bodies. He is an artist who is present at the scenes of death the most in the world.

He was born in Nara in 1970. He graduated the Department of Literature at Osaka Art University. He won the 98th Bungakukai-Shinjin Prize and the 131st Akutagawa Prize with "Introduction to Nursing Care" in 2004.

He recorded this film about Orozco, the embalmer, for three years there. Orozco has grieved for the victims of violence in this country. This film is the film epic of human's life and death. It was elected to Montreal World Film Festival in 2001.
